Board of Directors [2006/2007] [2005/2006] : Committees : Staff

Director International Federations - Wessel van Kampen

Co president - Wessel van Kampen (1968) was one of the initiators and captain of the Dutch field hockey team that participated in the 2002 GayGames in Sydney . The team won the gold medal and beat the Australian hosts in the final. Last year his team was beaten in the final by the Australian team at the EuroGames in Utrecht .

Winning the gold medal in Australia and the silver medal in Utrecht was a good motivation to work hard to get more players and teams involved in international gay and lesbian hockey. In 2005 Wessel was co-founder of PinkHockey, the International Gay and Lesbian International Hockey Federation. PinkHockey now has members in over 14 countries.

One of the reasons Wessel joined the GLISA board was to make sure that 'smaller' sports like field hockey, are heard in the international Gay and Lesbian sports community.

Before becoming Glisa co President in February 2007, Wessel held the function of secretary for two years. He is also the liaison between Glisa and EGLSF (European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation).

Wessel works as a senior advisor for PriceWaterhouseCoopers Advisoy in the Netherlands and is specialised in project management and organizational change. He has a masters degree in Public Adminstration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Besides his work and GLISA board membership, Wessel is also a member of the board of 'Rotterdam Verkeert', a professional organization that aims to improve the quality of care for gays and lesbians in the greater Rotterdam area in the fields of welfare, care and education.
