An International Federation is an organization focused on a single sporting activity or group of sport disciplines, having membership representation from at least three countries. “International Federations” (IF) is a membership category of GLISA and as a result IFs are entitled to vote at our Delegate Congresses (Annual General Meetings). At present the following International Federations are members of GLISA:
European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation
EGLSF will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2014. In addition to holding Eurogames in a different European city most years, EGLSF does ongoing work against homophobia in sport in Europe. It enjoys participatory status at the Council of Europe and is member of the Consultative Committee of the Enlarged Partial Agreement of Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe. GLISA International is also a member of EGLSF and the two organizations enjoy a fruitful working relationship.
Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation
GLRF serves as a worldwide online community for gay and lesbian rowers, coxies, coaches, and race officials, and it also serves to represent the interests of gay and lesbians rowers with national and international rowing governing bodies and with other multi-sport organizations. The organization currently counts over 1400 members in 39 countries.
International Association of Gay and Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs
IAGLCWDC promotes country western dancing, activities and events, including sanctioned dance competitions. It has nearly 35 member clubs in the United States, Canada and Europe.
International Gay and Lesbian Field Hockey Federation
IGLFHF is an international organization for field hockey and has members in various countries.
International Front Runners
Founded nearly 20 years ago, IFR is an affiliation of over 75 running clubs throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, which represent nearly 5,000 individuals members. IFR sponsors a quadrennial games of track, field and road events and also organizes regional competitions.
European Same Sex Dance Association
ESSDA, is the umbrella organization for European Same Sex dance couples, of all dance styles. It currently has over 160 members in 13 countries.
International Gay Bowling Organization
Established in 1980, the IGBO is an International gay bowling organization that provides educational services, communication avenues and social opportunitites to promote the sport of bowling and to enrich lives of individuals through leagues and tournaments worldwide.
International Gay & Lesbian Football Association
The IGLFA was founded in 1992 – today, after 20 years, over 80 teams from more than 20 countries from all over the world have become part of this organization.
