The first pillar in GLISA’s mandate is to nurture and grow LGBT sport. To further that end, GLISA provides financial assistance to OutGames participants through various bursary programs where funding is available.
We offer financial support in the following areas:
A. Air Fare
B. Accommodation (Hosted housing)
C. Registration fees (Sport or Culture)
Some bursaries include full support – others may be partial support (airfare only for example).
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Any individual who is at least 18 years of age and requires financial assistance to attend the OutGames is eligible. This applies to any participant in the Sport or Cultural programme activities of the OutGames.
- 50% of the bursaries are reserved for women in order to be as inclusive as possible.
- At present Applicants residing in locations other than Canada, the United States, Western Europe, Israel, Japan, Australia and New Zealand will be favoured.

Information on how to apply, deadline application dates, and application forms are posted on the website prior to OutGames for which bursaries are available.
For the 1st World OutGames Montreal 2006, GLISA sponsored 50 bursaries, ranging from flight only to full support (lodging, registration and flight).
